Small Bathroom Décor Details That Make A Difference

Finding the perfect bathroom décor can often be a challenge. You’re likely dealing with a lack of space in addition to looking for décor that can withstand the moisture of the bathroom.

The good news is that you can use plenty of different elements to make your bathroom look great. You’d be surprised at what a small change can do. See a few bathroom décor details that make a difference.

Bathroom Décor Ideas

Everyone wants a beautiful bathroom. But you shouldn’t let the size of your bathroom limit your décor. For bathrooms big or small, you can find decorative elements that will dress up your bathroom.

“For bathrooms of any size, tile can really make your bathroom stand apart from the rest while being an extremely versatile and durable material,” Kristin Whalen, award-winning kitchen and bath designer, said. “Whether you choose to tile just the floor or also include walls, there are so many beautiful tiles out there and a bathroom is a perfect place to show off some of your personality and take a risk with a fun color or pattern on your tiles.”

Here are a few details in your bathroom you should maximize to make your bathroom the most stylish:

  • Lighting
  • Tile & Backsplash
  • Shower Door
  • Mirrors
  • Towels & Linens

1. Bathroom Lighting

You’d be surprised at what a difference a new bathroom light fixture can make. Whether you’re planning a bathroom remodel or just looking to dress things up, a new bathroom light fixture can really make a difference.

“A well thought out lighting and floor plan can make all of the difference in a bathroom remodel,” Whalen said. “The best approach to a well-lit space is to incorporate layers of task, accent, ambient and decorative lighting. Partner with a designer to help create a bathroom layout and custom lighting plan.”

2. Bathroom Tile & Backsplash

While you might think of tile as a small detail, it can make a big difference. Think about bathrooms you’ve seen that has colored tile, it instantly makes the bathroom outdated. An update you can make is to update your bathroom tile or backsplash. Choosing a white or natural tile backsplash is timeless and will help to create a sleek and stylish bathroom. But, as Whalen mentioned earlier, a few pops of color in your tile could be a stylish addition.

3. Bathroom Vanity

Did you know a fresh coat of paint on your bathroom vanity can help to update the look of your entire room? This is a project you can DIY in as little as a weekend, depending on how big your vanity is. Again, it’s a good idea to go with a simple neutral color here like a white or gray.

4. Bathroom Shower Door

Did you know a solid door or curtain can make your bathroom seem smaller than it really is? “Opt in for a glass shower door to keep the room open and spacious versus a shower curtain that closes off the room,” Whalen said.

Glass shower doors are easy to clean and can be a modern addition to your bathroom, regardless of size.

5. Bathroom Mirrors

Have you ever considered mirrors to be decoration? Not only can they help to reflect light, but more than one can be a great feature in the bathroom.

“Don’t be afraid to use large mirrors. Mirrors will make your small bathroom appear larger by amplifying light,” Whalen said. “It’s even better if you are able to place one directly across from a window or light source. Frame all mirrors with trim to elevate your bathroom even further.”

6. Bathroom Towels & Linens

The towels you choose and linens you use can be an added pop of color in the bathroom. It’s easy to change out as well, based on current trends. Bathroom curtains can be a great place for a fun pattern or bold color. I like to choose soft colors for my bathroom to embrace a spa-like style. These can be light shades of purple, blue or green. However, with rustic bathrooms becoming more popular, many are opting for patterns and textures with a neutral color scheme.

You can easily dress up your bathroom in small ways that you may not have thought of before. Try a few of these ideas if you need a simple upgrade or, consider them if you’re planning a bathroom remodel.
