What to Expect in Our Design Showroom – CCI Management Memo

Bill Farnsworth & Scott BlainIf you’ve ever driven down Mass. Ave. west of Arlington Center, you’ve probably passed Custom’s Kitchen & Bath Design Center. But have you ever stopped in for a visit?

Having a design center sets us apart from nearly every other home remodeler in the area. Here, you can see and touch many of the products that we use in our kitchen and bathroom projects. We’re direct
dealers for three major cabinet lines, all of which you can purchase
when you hire Custom for your remodeling project.

Cabinets are a big part of any kitchen or bathroom, and we have a large
collection of door samples, along with hardware and accessories, spread
out among four displays. Check out two kitchen displays, a bathroom
display and a new display featuring our latest cabinet line, Touchstone
(see back page for details). Also available in our Design Center:
examples of countertops, sinks and faucets, and more. When the time is
right, we can put you in touch with one of our trusted vendors to help
address your specific needs.

Because our clients can examine everything up close — e.g. the wood
species and finish of a cabinet — they feel much more comfortable
about their investment. That’s a convenience that very few home
remodelers anywhere can offer.

What About Showrooms?
We’ve warned clients about showrooms many times before. As we
wrote in a 2012 Management Memo, “Most showrooms specialize in
one thing: selling cabinets and countertops. But once they’ve made
the sale, you’re on your own.”

Let’s look at the “selling” part of that equation first. Our Design
Center doesn’t have salespeople working on a commission. There’s
no “hard sell” here. Our people take the time to help you choose
products that fit your needs, taste and budget. Furthermore, with us,
there are no huge overhead costs or major markups.

And when you buy products through Custom, you have the comfort
of knowing we do the design and installation too. As a full-service,
design/build remodeling company, we’re responsible for all aspects
of the project, from concept through completion. So you don’t have
to worry about managing the various professional trade contractors,
handling permitting issues, sticking to the project schedule or countless
other things.
